WERNHER BOUWENS "RECENT WORK"

Wernher Bouwens is fascinated by the printingprocess, the mechanical production of images and the value of a printed matter in our society. Instead of making the technical aspects invisible, like most contemporary printing techniques try to do, he plays with the grid, the ink and the paper.

He’s a painter, makes prints and wallpaintings and is the editor of several series of artistbooks. These differents investigations are independant. Each one is related to its medium.

He paints screens. The grid is intense but each point of it has it’s own identity.
In his prints the grid doesn’t construct the image. A white grid is revealed by several layers of lithographic ink.
