Aldo Crommelynck.
It will be an opportunity to rediscover Dine’s most iconic images, such as hearts, bathrobes, and tools. But also to see his recent work with The Fire Hammer Etudes (summer 2007). This piece, too recent to have been printed by Crommelynck, was made when Dine used again and reworked completely some of the old plates of The New French Tools (1984, also part of the show).
One should not overlook The Temple of Flora, a book of 29 plates with a bronze lid, and seven plates from Eight Little Nudes, a rare subject in Dine’s oeuvre.
Last but not least: a double portrait, Jim and Aldo (signed by both of them in an ed. of 18), has been made especially for this exhibition by Dine at Michael Woolworth’s printing workshop in Paris as a tribute to Jim’s work with Aldo.
Vernissage: The Librairie Saint-Hubert has the pleasure of inviting you to meet Jim Dine and Aldo Crommelynck on Saturday 19th January from 6 o’clock pm, at Galerie du Roi, 2, in Brussels. Book: Jim Dine : Aldo et moi, M.-C. Miessner (ed.), Fr./Eng., Steidl/Bibliothèque nationale de France, 40€
